FAQs
For dermaplaning, there is absolutely no discomfort at all! For microneedling, there is some discomfort involved as we are creating micro-trauma to the skin to create the body’s healing response. We use lidocaine to numb the area to minize discomfort. For chemical peels, your skin may feel a little “spicy” but no more than 2/10 on a scale of 1-10.
For dermaplaning, results are usually immediate! Your skin will look and feel fabulous immediately. For microneedling, you will typically see results within 5-10 days and it will continue to improve for 2-4 weeks. For best results we do 2-3 treatments 4 weeks apart and then maintain with 2 treatments per year. With chemical peels, results are usually immediate.
For dermaplaning, your skin may be a little red immediately after the treatment but this usually dissapates within 10-20 minutes. For microneedling, yes – your skin will be red and sore for 24-48 hours following the procedure. The aftercare is very important. With peels, redness may last for 24 hours depending on which peel you choose.
For dermaplaning, there will be no breakouts and if anything dermaplaning prevents breakouts. For microneedling, breakouts can occur. The procedure may bring pimples to the surface that were deep under the skin. This is beneficial as they were going to develop anyway, and microneedling just accelerates the process. With peels, no – if anything peels calm your skin and prevent breakouts.
The only time dermaplaning is not suitable is if there are any open sores or active acne. Microneedling is suitable for all skin types, and helps especially with anti-aging, dull skin, and scarring. Peels are also suitable for all skin types.
